Biochemic Medicine
An Introduction

Dr. Schuessler, a German homeopath, studied Homeopathy and made a profound study of the physiology and biochemistry; he proposed a therapeutics by means of substances that constitute the medicines of natural functions; the 12 tissues medicines. He observed that all diseases are related to a deficiency of mineral salts in the body. He discovered that the symptoms of the disease, or imbalance, vary according to what is lacking.

Dr. Schuessler observed that the human body, when reduced to ashes contained only 12 minerals in the form of salts. His research, eventually called Schuessler's Biochemic Theory, integrates the knowledge of the human body's cellular structure and the use of mineral salts, or cell salts as a system of medicine to fortify or energize the individual cells of the body.

He deducted that any imbalance of these salts, or a deficiency of any of the tissue salts, causes malady. The body then begins to develop symptoms associated with the tissue salts that are lacking. Therefore, he established that restoring the accurate balance of tissue salts in the body would remove the symptoms of illness and restore health.

According to Schuessler, these cell salts are vital nutritional elements of the cell and lacking any one or more of these minerals will prevent the cells from up taking the proper nutrients supplied by digestion and the blood.

This imbalances the body chemistry opening it up to the diseased state.
